Garage Door Repair in Kansas City, MO & KS
- Free, no-obligation estimate
- Same-day help on most calls
- Springs, cables, openers, and off-track doors

Your door broke. Same-day help, most days.
When the door will not open, your car is not going anywhere. When it will not close, the house sits open all night. Neither one waits politely for next week. Kaw Garage Door repairs garage doors across the Kansas City metro, Missouri side and Kansas side alike, and most calls are finished the same day you call.
Calls that come in before noon almost always get a visit the same day. And one habit worth borrowing from Dan: never approve a repair until its whole price has been said out loud. It is the surest way to keep the bill from surprising you.
A small Kansas City crew that does one thing well
Kaw Garage Door began in 2018: one truck, and Dan repeating the same rule on call after call, that the whole price gets said before the work. The shop is still small, deliberately. A person here in Kansas City picks up when you call.
We do repairs. That is the whole business. Some doors and openers really are at the end of their life. When a pro tells you that, ask to be shown why, and ask for the replacement priced as its own job before you decide.

Why Kansas City calls us
Get the price first
Our advice on every call: ask for the full price before work starts, and approve it before anyone picks up a tool.
A free estimate to start
Tell us what the door is doing and get a free, no-obligation estimate. No fine print, and no obligation to book the repair.
Know your springs
Springs work as a pair, and they wear out together. When one breaks, the other has done the same work, so ask about its age before you decide what to replace.
Ask both prices
When a repair and a replacement are both on the table, ask to see both prices and the reasoning. A close call should be your call.
Questions we hear every week
Why won't my garage door open?
Most often a broken spring. The springs lift the door's weight, so when one snaps the opener cannot do the job alone. Look for a gap in the spring above the door. Do not keep running the opener, it can burn out the motor.
How much does a broken spring cost to fix?
In the Kansas City area, replacing a pair of springs typically runs $250 to $450 installed, depending on door size and spring type. Ask for your exact price before any work starts.
Can you come today?
Usually, yes. Call before noon and most Kansas City repairs happen the same day. A door stuck open, or a car stuck inside, moves to the front.
What does the estimate cost?
Nothing. The estimate is free, hassle-free, and comes with no obligation.
My opener hums but the door does not move. What is that?
Often a stripped gear or a broken spring doing it. Either way, stop running it and call. Running an opener against a broken spring is how a moderate repair becomes a bigger one.
What happens when you call
First, we listen. How the door acts, and what it refuses to do, tells the story early. We line you up with a local pro who can take the job. When the pro comes out, hear the whole number out loud before a single tool comes out, and approve only the work you understand.
Ask for two extras while the pro is there: a once-over of the whole door, not just the broken part, and the safety reverse test before the truck leaves. Each takes minutes, and each heads off the next breakdown.
And if a second problem surfaces while the work is open, ask to see it and price it before it joins the job. If you did not approve it, it does not belong on your bill.
Garage doors in Kansas City homes
Kansas City doors live a particular life. Winter ice storms and hard cold snaps are when tired springs let go, and January is our busiest month for spring calls. Summer humidity off the Missouri and Kansas rivers rusts cables, worst in the river towns along the Missouri bluffs. Storm season tests every door's bottom seal and sensors.
Most of the doors we repair are in homes built between 1950 and 2010: the postwar ranches of Prairie Village, Mission, and Raytown, and the big growth waves in Lee's Summit, Olathe, and Lenexa. Those doors are sound. Their springs, cables, and openers are simply at the age where they wear out, and a proper repair resets the clock for years.
